On May 20th, Guangzhou E-POWER F.C. was founded in Guangzhou. The head coach Li Bing will lead the team to attend the 2023 Chinese Champions League, aiming to enter the Chinese League Two.

A tourism promotion event, co-organized by the Cuban Ministry of Tourism and the Consulate General of Cuba in Guangzhou, was held in Guangzhou, the capital city of south China’s Guangdong province, on May 21.

An outbreak of moderate thunderstorms tore through Guangdong from north to south starting last night until this early morning, and heavy rains barreled through parts of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Zhongshan and other cities, according to the province’s meteorological observatory. As of 8:50 am, 14 cities in Guangdong have issued orange alerts for rainstorms, and 139 regions have issued yellow alerts.

About 500 competitors from more than 70 countries and regions participated in the games. The event aims to promote exchanges and friendship among Guangzhou residents and expats who live and work in Guangzhou.

On May 21, Guangzhou issued its first yellow alert for high temperatures of the year, with the highest temperatures in Yuexiu and Tianhe districts expected to reach 35 degrees Celsius these two days. By 15:30 that day, all districts in the city except Nansha and Conghua districts had issued yellow alerts for high temperatures.

On May 18, the International Museum Day, the Southern Territory of Qin and Han Dynasties-History of the Nanyue Kingdom exhibition kicked off at Nanyue King Museum in Guangzhou.

In addition to various events, museums around Guangdong have been rolling out a slew of on-site exhibitions to mark the International Museum Day on May 18 and the China Tourism Day on May 19.

The 2023 Guangdong Silk Road Litchi Tour was held in Conghua, Guangzhou, on May 17th. Named after the ancient network of trade routes that connected China with various countries in Asia, Europe, and Africa, this annual event aimed to promote the global sale of litchi and was first launched in 2019.

In the first four months of 2023, Guangdong’s export has maintained growth, rising 5.4 percent to 1.68 trillion RMB, data from Guangdong Sub-administration of the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC) showed.

The Fijian Culture, Tourism and Art Exchange Center was inaugurated at Nansha Bird Park in Guangzhou's Nansha District on May 11.
